How I started
I began making these night lights as gifts for nieces and nephews and others many years ago out in my small woodshop at my farm. They are a high quality product being made of red oak with precision woodworking.
About the products
They are designed to accommodate interchangeable scenes, in fact, all the pictures on this web page are using the same light box. If you choose to have more than one scene, there is a compartment in the back of the light box to store the scenes that are not being used.
The backgroung is also interchangable. With many scenes I prefer the look of wood as it simulates clouds and sky, but I do supply a white background which can easily be inserted into the light box. For some scenes this is a must. Most of the scenes are made by cutting out on a scroll saw. The electric cord does have a built in switch for turning the light on and off, but I also supply you with a small photo cell which will turn the light on and off automatically at night and in the morning. The bulb itself is only four watts and should it burn out, they can be purchased at hardware stores and even grocery stores.
Should you like a custom photo shot or a wood scene made up for your grandaughter or grandson or anyone else for that matter, you would have to send me a picture by e-mail or snail mail. Because of size limitations only one person should be in a scene and that photograph should be taken fairly close to the subject.
Please do not send me pictures from cell phones as the quality is not good enough, but I think any digital camera would work fine. If you have an old photograph that you would like to make into a scene, such as the man on the reared up horse (Rider),taken in the late 1930s or early 40s, you could send me a copy of the picture or you could have the picture scanned and sent to me by e-mail. I try not to use any pattern that has a copyright, however some of these patterns were sent to me by friends and I have no way of knowing their origin. If I have accidentally used a pattern with a copyright, please let me know and I will pull it off the web page if you want me to do so. I will constantly be adding new scenes to the web page as time allows, so check back once in awhile and you may find one that you like. If you have a good idea for a scene please write to me and I will do my best to make it.

This is the light box with no scene and the top removed, which simply lifts off. You will note the white background is in place; it slides up and out of the box to remove and to expose the wood background. The interchandable scenes also slide in place from the top in a set of grooves. The actual wood scenes are 1/8th inch thick, 8 inches high and about 4 1/2 inches wide. I supply a photo cell which can be plugged into a wall outlet; the light is then plugged into the photo cell. The light box and photo cell sell for $95.00 and the scenes are additional and vary in price depending upon complexity.
